Stevie Wonder-3-819x1024In the year 1970, Stevie Wonder left MoTown and recorded two independent albums by himself. Berry Gordy was stunned to discover that this was the case with Stevie Wonder. Berry Gordy signed Stevie Wonder's request for more independence, complete creative control and rights to his songs. Stevie Wonder signed a contract of 13 million dollars with MoTown Records in 1972. Stevie Wonder received a higher royalty and full creative control. Also, he had the right to write his own songs , something that very few artists could obtain at that time. The agreement allowed Wonder's music to discuss controversial topics like war, poverty, drugs and politics.Stevie is famous for his political songs such as, You Haven't Done Nothing which was a political jab at Richard Nixon. In 1972 the artist came out with Music Of My Mind, the first album released under the new MoTown agreement. Talking Book was Stevie Wonder's album from late in 1972. It's still a major piece of music. Which included the number one hit-song, Superstition.
